Image and Text - Task 5

These are the images that I have chosen that I would like to re-create.

My Re-Creations
This image has been taken by using a shutter speed of 25 and as I pressed the shutter I zoomed in to create this effect.

This effect was created by simply putting vaseline on the lens of my camera.

Image and Text - Task 3

Vignette
The vignette effect is an effect that can be created using photoshop. It makes the edges of the image darker and it almost looks like a circle border around your images, with a soft line around the circle shape rather than a hard line like some borders. Here is an example of the vignette effect being used that I found online. In this photo you can see the edges are darker and you can see the circle like shape of the border.

Gaussian Blur
This is effect can be created in photoshop. It is basically blurring the image. You can then leave the image totally blurred if you want. If not you can select parts of the image you do not want to be blurry, make them in focus and leave what you want blurred. Here is an example of this I found online. In this image you can see that the background has been left blurred and the flower is in focus.

Image and Text - Task 7

I think I have done rather well with all the tasks I have been given and have approached them as best as I can. In task 1 I think I did enough research looking at 3 effects that were used by photographers to create effects with their images before you could do this with photoshop. This could be improved by maybe looking in to other ways these in camera techniques were used rather than just in photographs. I think I did well with task 2 as I looked at and attempted quite a few different in camera techniques to add these effects to my images. I was happy with the outcome of most of them too. Bokeh was a rather hard effect to create because you need to get the shape the correct size and it needs to be cut extreemly carefully too. To improve this task I could try making my shape used for bokeh more precise as it doesn't look too much like a love heart. I could also take more photos using these effects, and maybe try even more effects. Task 3 went okay, I researched some different effects that can be created digitally and also I showed examples. To improve this I could show how they are created in photoshop by maybe using print screens. Task 4 didn't go too well as I didn't edit that many photos but I edited them using 3 different effects. If i was to improve this I would try editing more images using the effects I learnt. Task 5 went well and I enjoyed re-creating the images. The in camera techniques I chose worked well for me and I am really pleased with how the images that I have taken came out. My images for task 6 that were my own original ideas went well I thought. The effects I created for them turned out well. I could have edited more images in different ways to improve this and this would also show how more effects can be put into images.

Image and Text - Task 6

Here are the orignial images I have taken of what I think student life is. I have edited the photos using in camera techniques and by digital techniques.

To create this effect I put vaseline around the edge of my camera lens, and this is what the outcome looks like. I am quite pleased with how this image worked out. I think that fast food is relevant to student life because students would eat things such as this because they are cheap and quick, especially if people are busy and don't have time to cook.

I created this effect by using digital editing. This is called a vignette effect. Alcohol is relevant to student life because students are the types of people who go out and drink/socialise with friends.

This is again the vignette effect but I changed the colour to pink. This shows a student doing their work at college.

This effect was created digitally, it is called a gaussian blur. Where the images says technology campus it is in focus and the rest of the image has a blur effect to it. This was so you could clearly see that this was the college campus.

This effect was created digitally again, I applied a coloured layer over the photo and this was the outcome. This image shows a student holding a camera and the course I have taken is photography so I think that this could relate to student life.

Re-Creating fashion photography

Kirkstall Abbey

We went to Kirstall Abbey whilst it was dark. We set out cameras to a shutter speed of 30" and took the photos so they looked like it was during the day.

Documentary, Part 2 - Task 1

For my project I have to decided to choose the theme of Leeds 2011. Within this theme I have chosen to photograph the different types of people that are seen around Leeds everyday. There are many different types of social groups around the city centre so I have chose to photograph those. I am going to shoot these images in the style of street photography. The people who I will be photographing will not be asked to pose for me they will taken as the people are just passing by. These images will not all have one certain style, they will all be different as the style of the image will reflect the type of person that I am photographing in each image. One photographers work that inspired me and is like the work I am going to be shooting is Philip Lorca Dicorcia's heads. Here are examples of his work.

I have been around Leeds City Centre taking photographs of people that I think are of different social groups and are different from each other. Here are the test shots from my shoot.

Some of the images that I short a bit out of focus and blurred, this is because I took the photos as the people were walking/moving so I need to make sure that my shutter speed is fast enough so that I do no get any motion blur in my images.
